    Mazda's Large SUV Lineup Explained: CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90

Mazda has shaken up its SUV range with four new models built on what it calls the "Large Architecture" platform.

Think of it as one foundation, four personalities.

Each SUV shares the same DNA but is tuned for different lifestyles - whether that's a city-based five-seater, a family-sized seven-seater, or something in between.

If you've been eyeing off Mazda's new crop of SUVs but aren't sure which fits your driveway (or your weekend plans), here's a clear breakdown.

    Mazda CX-60: The Premium Five-Seater

The CX-60 is the smallest of the new lineup, but don't mistake compact for basic. This two-row SUV is aimed at drivers who want something more polished than a CX-5 but without jumping to a full-size seven-seater.

    • Seating: Five seats
    • Powertrains: 3.3L inline-six mild-hybrid petrol or diesel, plus a 2.5L plug-in hybrid (PHEV)
    • Purpose: Premium mid-size SUV for smaller households or city buyers
    • Positioning: Upscale but still practical in size

It's a sweet spot for those who want luxury touches and hybrid tech without the bulk of a three-row SUV.

    Mazda CX-70: The Flagship Five-Seater

At first glance, the CX-70 looks a lot like the CX-90. And that's because, size-wise, it basically is. The key difference? It skips the third row of seats in favour of extra space and luxury features. Mazda is pitching this model squarely at North America, where buyers love big SUVs-even if they don't always need seven seats.

    • Seating: Five seats with more cabin room than the CX-60
    • Size: About five metres long, similar footprint to CX-90
    • Powertrains: e-Skyactiv G 3.3L turbo inline-six mild hybrid (~340 hp), or 2.5L PHEV (~323 hp, ~42 km EV range)
    • Positioning: Premium luxury five-seater with high-end touches like dual 12.3″ screens, Nappa leather, and a panoramic roof

In simple terms: if the CX-60 is practical luxury, the CX-70 is indulgent luxury.

    Mazda CX-80: The Family Workhorse

The CX-80 brings three rows of seating to the party, making it a stretched sibling to the CX-60. With seven seats, it's built for family life but without going all-in on the sheer size of the CX-90.

    • Seating: Seven seats
    • Size: ~4,995 mm long with a 3,120 mm wheelbase
    • Powertrains: 3.3L inline-six petrol (209 kW/450 Nm), 3.3L diesel (187 kW/550 Nm), or 2.5L PHEV (241 kW/550 Nm)
    • Positioning: Family-friendly, spacious, and more affordable than the CX-90

Think of it as the practical all-rounder-ideal if you want Mazda's latest tech and efficiency but don't need the full flagship treatment.

    Mazda CX-90: The Full-Size Flagship

The CX-90 sits right at the top of Mazda's SUV family. It's longer than the CX-80, more luxurious, and designed to go head-to-head with premium European rivals.

    • Seating: Seven seats
    • Size: ~5,120 mm long with a 3,120 mm wheelbase
    • Powertrains: 3.3L inline-six mild-hybrid petrol (254 kW/500 Nm, ~8.2 L/100 km) or diesel (187 kW/550 Nm, ~5.4 L/100 km). PHEV is expected to join the range.
    • Positioning: Flagship large SUV with full-size presence and premium focus

It's the family hauler with a luxury bent-big on space, big on power, and big on comfort.
